GWAR, formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984, are a shock rock / heavy / thrash metal band known for over-the-top costumes, grotesque stage theatrics, and satirical social commentary. Popular songs include “Sick of You.” Their latest release is the 2025 EP/multimedia project The Return of Gor Gor, featuring the single “Lot Lizard.” They were previously nominated for two Grammy Awards and built a cult following with theatrical live shows and a rich mythos surrounding characters like Blöthar and Oderus Urungus.
